Leslie A. Bassett
Deputy Chief of Mission

Leslie Bassett became Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, Mexico, in August, 2006, after completing two years as Minister Counselor of Political Affairs.

Prior to that she served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Gaborone, Botswana. Ms. Bassett's previous assignments include Colombia, Israel, El Salvador, South Africa and Nicaragua, as well as several tours in Washington D.C.

She is a graduate of the University of California at Davis, The Johns Hopkins University, and the National War College. Ms Bassett has one daughter.
