Ambassador Garza Attends Inauguration of New Transportation Center at the American School Foundation

Mexico City, December 7, 2004 – “This facility looks towards the future. By providing better infrastructure, the American School Foundation demonstrates concern for its students and the surrounding community,” said U.S. Ambassador Tony Garza. “A tremendous amount of work created this facility; I’m honored to be here to recognize the efforts of so many dedicated people.”

This morning Ambassador Garza attended the inauguration of the new transportation center at the American School Foundation (ASF). School officials, students, parents and members of the Capital Building Campaign attended the ribbon cutting.

The new transportation center will allow ASF to offer additional bus service to more students and improve access to the school, while relieving traffic congestion in the neighborhood. A new terminal for 76 buses, additional parking for special events, and replacement of the old football field and track facilities with state of the art sports grounds will contribute to a better environment in and around the school.

Funded by private donations through the Capital Building Campaign, construction of the new transportation center represented the preliminary phase of the Master Building Plan.
