Washington D.C., November 9, 2006-- "Clearly others will provide the specifics of the various meetings today between President-Elect Calderon, Secretary of State Rice and President Bush. During the meetings, President-Elect Calderon discussed a broad range of issues characteristic of the complexity and depth of our bilateral relations.
I’ve attended and observed a number of these types of meetings and I must say that I was particularly struck by President-Elect Calderon’s and President Bush’s directness in discussing the mutual challenges we face. It is clear that these two leaders will enjoy a positive and constructive relationship based not only on the obvious chemistry between these two men but more importantly on their commitment to shared values like democracy, creating economic opportunity, reducing poverty, and the safety and security of our two countries."
