Accused Murderer Rodolfo Negrete, Wanted In California For Brutal 24-Hour Killing Spree, Extradited

Mexico City, April 18, 2007 – “Cooperation between U.S. and Mexican law enforcement authorities has led to the extradition of Rodolfo ‘Rudy’ Negrete, wanted by authorities in California for murdering three people during a 24-hour killing rampage.

“Negrete, a member of the South Side Chiques street gang, is accused of an execution-style killing in Oxnard, California, on April 16, 2004. The following day, Negrete also allegedly shot and killed a man and his pregnant wife at close range after trying to sell them marijuana. Witnesses say the pregnant victim begged Negrete for her life but he murdered her anyway.

“The brutal nature of these killings attracted national attention in the U.S., and Negrete was featured on an episode of the popular crime program ‘America’s Most Wanted.’ The accused felon fled California and was arrested in Acapulco on October 20, 2006, by Mexican federal AFI agents. Mexican law enforcement officials turned him over to the custody of U.S. Marshals at the Mexico City Benito Juarez International Airport today, who transported him to Los Angeles, California, where he will face justice.

“By working closely together, law enforcement agencies in the United States and Mexico are tracking down and arresting more and more fugitives. The determination of our two governments to pursue criminals and wanted felons is an essential part in our determined efforts to make our communities safer.”
